Dating: The First Date
21st June 2010
For some, dating can be a long and grueling process, but it
doesn’t have to be. Knowing where to go and what to say could definitely help
you make your first date a successful one. Even for the most mature people, the
first date can be a very nerve racking experience. It is important to stay calm
and enjoy yourself.
For women, try not to keep the man waiting too long. If he
has to sit and wait too long he may become uninterested or bored. You want to
keep both yourself and your date interested or the date will turn sour quickly.
You may want to have a drink at home before the date to help loosen up.
When it comes to drinking on a date moderation is a must,
you can’t go losing control with someone you don’t know. Be sure to always know
when drinking on the first date can lead to a false relationship based around
alcohol. So have a drink to loosen up but you may want to hold off on drinking
in front of your date.
Choosing the perfect location for your first date can be
crucial as well. One type of first date can be a lunch on your break at work,
this way you have a time limit and it allows yourself to just break the ice without
having to worry about anything happening afterwards. After this date you could
move onto dinners and late night outings whit this significant other.
Another great way to have a first date is double dating with
a couple you already know, this allows not only you to get to know the person
you’re going a date with but also people you know and trust to have the
opportunity to get a feel for this person as well.
If you choose to have your first date be a dinner date at
night having some kind of protection with you is vital, whether it be pepper
spray, a knife, or gun. Always choose a location with many people, so that it
lessens the chance of you becoming the victim of a criminal. This is not always
the case as some first dates are just what you expect them to be.
For men it may be a nice suggestion to bring flowers or
candy on the first date. It does seem very cliché but it could help the date
get off to a great start. You can choose to go with a nontraditional gift s
well if you are not a flowers or candy kind of guy like a gift bag or card.
Keep the conversation going during the date, even if you
have those occasional “so how was your day” moments. Remember that you already
know everything about yourself so get to know your date instead of going on and
on about your pet peeves or self image issues. If the date doesn’t work out,
try not to take it too personally. Sometimes you have to go on a few dates
before you find the one that really fits you.
